WHAT WE DO
The non-profit Istituto Pio XII Centre for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of children with respiratory illnesses looks out over the shores of Misurina Lake, at an altitude of 1760 metres, nestled in the splendid scenery of the Dolomites, just a few kilometres from Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Here, 365 days a year, 7 days a week, our medical and educational personnel fulfils its two-fold mission: first, attentively and fully care for the health of children and adolescents suffering from even the most grievous respiratory illnesses, offering the chance to host them along with their families; and second, contribute to the primary and secondary prevention of childhood and adolescent asthma, teaching self-management of the illness and follow-up check-ups. Specifically, timely reception and rapid identification of the illness using a multidisciplinary approach offer patients and their families concrete support in their daily management of the illness.
The institute is covered by the National Health System (NHS) through the Veneto region. Outpatient care and admissions, whether for single appointments or for full-time stays, are therefore covered by the NHS with a prescription signed by the family paediatrician or doctor on a regional prescription form or electronic prescription (for non-residents of Veneto the doctor’s request must first be authorised by the patient’s local NHS office).
In any case, all health services, whether for outpatient visits or full-time admissions, are also available with payment without going through the NHS. Specifically, the non-profit Istituto Pio XII offers a series of diagnostic, educational, and therapeutic paid services, including treatment, monitoring, prevention, and education activities.
